The authors must declare that the manuscript is being exclusively contributed to the ACEMedicine and that it has not been submitted for publication in another journal. Manuscripts should be typewritten in a font size of at least 12 points, times new roman, double space, at A-4 size paper with clear margins (2.5 cm) on both sides. Tables, Figures, as well as illustrations could be included in manuscript body. The figures should be sent in a format of JPEG or GIF which will produce high quality images in the online edition of the journal. The same data should not be presented in tables, figures and text, simultaneously. The text should be submitted in Microsoft Word format (DOC or DOCX) as an attachment. The editorial Board and the editor-in-chief reserve the right to accept, reject or suggest revisions (with a notice to the corresponding author) and to edit the submitted articles. Annals of Clinical and Experimental Medicine (ACEMedicine), is the official journal of the Association of Specialist Medical Doctors in Academics, Sokoto State Chapter, which is published biannually. ACEMedicine is an open access, online, and peer-reviewed journal, which publishes research that contribute significantly to knowledge in all fields of medicine and allied health sciences. However, review articles may be submitted only upon invitation by the Editor-in-Chief.
ACEMedicine welcomes submissions of Full-length original articles, review articles (by invitation only), short communications or brief reports and letters to the editor.
These articles must be of primary research, methodologically accurate, and relevant to international health policy and management. They should contain no more than 5000 words excluding structured abstract, tables, figure legends and references. Each manuscript should clearly state an objective or hypothesis; the design of the study and methodology (including study setting, experimental animals, patients or participants, inclusion and exclusion criteria, sampling and data source), data analysis and interpretations, the main results of the study, discussion of the results study limitations and the conclusion. For all original articles, a structured abstract is required.
These articles consist of systematic reviews, meta-analyses, meta-syntheses, and health system reviews. These articles should contain not more than 7000 words excluding the abstract, tables, figure legends and references. The specific type of study or analysis, intervention, population, exposure, outcomes or tests should be described for each data source or article. Authors are to clearly cover the following topics in the method section: search strategy and selection criteria, data extraction, quality assessment, and data analysis. An unstructured abstract is required.
These types of articles are not intended to publish preliminary results, but results which are of exceptional interest and are particularly topical and relevant. These articles should be not more than 2500 words including up to three figures or tables, references and the main text. An unstructured abstract is required for these types of articles.
We welcome short letters with topics of interest to the ACEMedicine readership. These letters should not exceed 700 words including only one table or figure, references and the main text. No abstract is required for these articles.
The manuscript should include: Title page, Abstract, Introduction, Materials & Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgements and References
The title page: The complete title of the manuscript, the names of all the authors, their departments, institutions to which they are affiliated, address of the corresponding author with telephone numbers and e-mail. The title of the article should be captivating and not more than 20-25 words. A running title of about 50 characters should also be provided.
Abstract: All articles except letters to the editor must have an abstract of not more than 250 words followed by 3 to 5 Keywords. The abstract should be structured under the following headings: background, materials and methods, results and conclusion. The keywords will assist indexers in cross indexing the article as they are published with abstracts. Authors need to be careful that the abstract reflects the content of the article accurately and does not have citations or tables and figures.
Introduction: This should summarize the purpose and the rationale for the study. It should be as concise as possible. It should neither review the subject extensively nor should it have data or conclusions of the study.
Materials & Methods: This should include the exact methods or observations used in the experiment. If an equipment or apparatus is used, the manufacturer’s name and address should be given in brackets. If the method used is an established one, reference to it could be made but if the method is new, sufficient information should be provided to allow for replication of the study by another author. . Statistical methods as well as any general computer programme used in the study must be mentioned
Results and Discussion: This must be presented in the form of text, tables and illustrations. The contents of the tables should not be all repeated in the text. Instead, a reference to the table number may be given. Long articles may need sub-headings within some sections to clarify their contents. This should emphasize the present findings and the variations or similarities with other work done in the field by other workers. The detailed data should not be repeated in the discussion again. Emphasis should be on new and important aspects of the study and the conclusions that follow from them. It must be mentioned whether the hypothesis mentioned in the article is true, false or no conclusions can be derived.
Conclusions: This summarizes the thoughts and the larger implications of the study, demonstrating the importance of ideas and introducing possible new or expanded ways of thinking about the research problem. One well-developed paragraph is enough for conclusion, although in some cases, a two-or-three paragraph conclusion may be required.
Acknowledgements: All contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship should be covered in the acknowledgement section. It should include persons who provided technical help, writing assistance and departmental head that only provided general support. Financial and material support should also be acknowledged.
References: All manuscripts should be accompanied by relevant references. For this journal, the Vancouver reference style is required. References should be numbered, ordered sequentially as they appear in the text, tables, boxes and figures. Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa). The author should ensure reference to locally published studies by doing proper literature search. Please note that it may not be possible for the editor and reviewers to check the accuracy of all reference citations. To minimize such errors, author should verify references against the original documents or use referencing software such as Endnote, Mendeley, RefWorks etc. The Reference should provide the following information as stated in the presented models as follows:

Upon acceptance, a computer printout of the manuscript will be sent to the corresponding author for proof reading before publication in order to avoid any mistakes. Corrections should be marked clearly and sent immediately to the journal office.
Use only standard abbreviations. Avoid using abbreviations in the title and abstract. The full term for which an abbreviation stands should precede its first use in the text unless it is a standard unit of measurement.
Ethical considerations must be addressed in the materials and methods. Please state that informed consent was obtained from all human adult participants and from the parents or legal guardians of minors. Include the name of the appropriate institutional review board that approved the project. Indicate in the text that the maintenance and care of experimental animals complies with National Institute of Health guidelines for the humane use of laboratory animals, or those of your institute or agency.
Authors must acknowledge and declare any sources of funding and potential conflicting interest, such as receiving funds or fees by, or holding stocks and shares in, an organization that may profit or lose through publication of your paper. Declaring a competing interest will not lead to automatic rejection of the paper, but we would like to be made aware of it.
The entire contents of the accepted articles in ACEMedicine are protected under international copyrights. This journal is for your personal non-commercial use. You may not modify copy, distribute, transmit, display, or publish any materials contained on the journal without the prior written permission of it or the appropriate copyright owner.
The sum of fifty thousand (N50,000) naira only will be paid as article processing charges for each accepted manuscript.
All manuscripts are considered to be confidential. They are reviewed by at least two anonymous reviewers selected by the Editorial Board. The corresponding author is notified as soon as possible of the editor’s decision to accept, reject, or require modifications. If the manuscript is completely acceptable according to the criteria set forth in these instructions, it is scheduled for publication in the next available issue.
